Delegation from Bath Spa University Visits HUHST


 

On November 13, 2025, a delegation from Bath Spa University (BSU) visited Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology (HUHST) for an exchange visit. The delegation included Ms Jiemin Tomita, Head of International Recruitment and Partnerships; Dr Adam Biggs, Senior Lecturer in the School of Music; and Mr Wang Guangsheng, Director of the China Office. A discussion session was held in the No. 1 Conference Room of the Mingde Building and was chaired by Mr. Chen Yong, a member of the CPC HUHST Committee and Vice President of HUHST.

 

During the meeting, Mr. Chen Yong and the delegation reviewed the history and achievements of long-term cooperation between the two universities, and held in-depth discussions on key topics such as the joint education programme and the joint establishment of an institute for humanities and arts research. Both sides expressed their commitment to further deepening cooperation, leveraging their respective strengths in disciplines and competitive programmes, actively exploring new pathways for cross-disciplinary exchange and research, and advancing inter-university cooperation to deeper and broader levels. 

 

After the meeting, the delegation visited the School of Music and Dance for on-site exchanges. Dr Adam Biggs delivered a special lecture to faculty members and students entitled “Music Without Borders: Vocal Jazz, Cross-cultural Dialogue and Artistic Fusion”. The lecture was held in a warm and engaging atmosphere. Drawing on his solid academic background and vivid artistic performance, Dr Biggs showcased the unique charm of jazz music and its boundless potential for cross-cultural integration, leaving the audience deeply inspired and fully immersed.

The successful visit has further consolidated the strong partnership between the two universities, effectively promoted academic interaction and resource sharing in the field of humanities and arts, and laid a solid foundation for expanding in-depth cooperation in related areas in the future.

Relevant leaders from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the School of Education, and the School of Music and Dance attended the meeting.
