HUHST Wins First Prize at the Hunan Provincial Competition of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition 2025

On July 31, 2025, the Hunan Provincial Competition of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition 2025 concluded at the University of South China. The project submitted by the team led by He Shaoyun from HUHST won first prize.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and other authorities, the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition is one of the most prestigious and influential innovation and entrepreneurship contests for college students in China. With the theme “Dare to Differ, Dare to Win”, the competition features five tracks: the Higher Education Main Track, the “Youth Red Dream-building Journey” Track, the Vocational Education Track, the Industry Track, and the Emerging Track. This year, a total of 557,100 projects from 98 universities and colleges across Hunan Province were registered for the competition.

The prize-winning project, entitled “Battery Safety Connection Technology Based on Ceramic–Metal Welding”, has been refined and upgraded multiple times under the guidance of mentors Tan Fengliang and Chen Zhanjun from HUHST’s Student Entrepreneurship Guidance Studio. By making breakthroughs in three major dimensions—ceramic formulation, metallized welding paste, and solder production processes, the project directly addresses key technical bottlenecks in the battery connector sector, including the insufficient toughness, low welding strength, and high production costs of ceramics. It is of great significance for enhancing the safety performance of new energy vehicles and promoting cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the industry.

This achievement is a tangible outcome of HUHST’s continued efforts to deepen reform in innovation and entrepreneurship education. Going forward, the university will further refine its training model of “theory building → capability development → practice-based application → outcomes”, and develop a four-tier, step-by-step curriculum framework comprising “cognition → capability → practice → outcomes”. HUHST will strive to build a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship education characterized by interdisciplinary integration and strong competitiveness.
